About

Mina Talaee is an Iranian-born, Toronto-based visual artist whose practice bridges sculpture, fiber art, and research. Drawing on traditional craft techniques such as weaving, and metalwork, her work explores cultural memory, and power dynamics as a vessel of lived history. Through material experimentation and conceptual inquiry, she transforms fragile and intimate substances _ hair, thread, fabric _ into poetic forms that question identity, agency, and belonging.

Holding a PhD in Art Research, she integrates theory with hands-on practice, moving fluidly between making and reflection. Her installations often occupy the threshold between the personal and the political, translating invisible social constraints into tactile and spatial experiences.

Mina has exhibited internationally in cities including Paris, London, Berlin, New York, Limerick, Hastings, and Tehran. Currently based in Toronto, she continues to expand her cross-cultural practice through exhibitions, research, and community engagement, weaving personal narratives into broader conversations about identity, and the transformative potential of art.
